2025 Black Hills Ski for Light
(7 Days, 6 Nights)
Saturday, January 18th, thru Friday, January 24th, 2025
Depart: – Omaha –7:30 A.M.
This will be our tenth annual trip to Deadwood, SD to participate in the Black Hills Ski for Light event. Once again we will be overnighting in Chadron, Nebraska on Saturday evening to make sure we get to Deadwood in time for the orientation and have a little time to relax. All the folks that joined us on this fun-filled excursion in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024 are excited about the possibility of going again in 2025! (The event was canceled in 2021 due to COVID-19). This will be the 46th year for this exciting event! Our thanks to all who thus far have helped us financially to have an experience of a lifetime.
As organizers of the bus transportation we can tell you first hand that this program, which is designed to give blind and physically challenged individuals the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities, is like no other. We want to share this experience with others and have found that the biggest reason for not participating is due to the inability to find and afford transportation to attend the event.
Besides the financial assistance that is needed there are two other ways to participate:
- There is still space available for folks with sighted and physical challenges to come along. So if you know anyone who might enjoy this experience please have them contact Kathy or Ward by calling 402-630-3640 or email nebraskabus@gmail.com.
- If you (or you know someone else who may) want to volunteer as a downhill, cross country ski guide, or snowshoe ski guide, assist the handicapped with the Mountain man sled or maybe watching the guide dogs, have them contact us soon.
